About Us

MAKING THE GAME OF FOOTBALL SAFER FOR OUR CHILDREN

OUR MISSION

Pittsburgh NFL League Gold

Our mission is to provide a safe, fun, and inclusive environment for youth to learn and play flag football. We aim to promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and physical activity while fostering a love for the game. Our program is designed to develop fundamental skills, encourage healthy competition, and create a positive experience for all participants. We strive to inspire a lifelong appreciation for sports and active living and to help youth grow into responsible, respectful, and resilient individuals on and off the field

Welcome to the #1 Rated Flag Football League in Pittsburgh!!!

We will host our 22nd year (40th Season) of Coed Flag Football starting Saturday, April 4th, 2025.  Our children's ages are 4-14 (girls can be 17).  The season includes 2 weeks of training camp, the Pittsburgh NFL League Annual Draft, 7 regular-season games, and a tournament-style playoff.  Teams meet at least one day a week for practice.  The Playoffs kick off in June. We only have a limited number of spots available, so register today so you don't miss out on all the fun this summer.

The reason our league was created was to make football accessible for ALL children—no matter their age, size, or gender. We wanted to help raise awareness on childhood obesity and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.   It's something we always remind our players of, but this is a way we can send our message to the entire community.  Join us in making a difference in our community.

Meet the Commissioner

Erik Cooper

Erik Cooper has been involved with the Pittsburgh NFL League for 19 years and has been the Commissioner for the last 14. After becoming Commissioner, he has grown the league from 4 teams to over 32.

Personal Goals: I want to make the Pittsburgh NFL League, not just the best football league, but the best sports league in Pittsburgh. I want the players to learn the game of football in a safe and fun environment. I want the players to grow just not as athletes, but into better people who can take some lessons learned in football and carry that over into other aspects of their life. I also want to be a positive male role model to all of the children and families.

Favorite football team: Pittsburgh Steelers

Favorite players: Hines Ward and Troy Polamalu
